Beachcat Rental Fleet

HULL

The Beachcat rental fleet is based on a family of all fiberglass “one piece” catamaran hulls including 20’, 23’ and 26’ by
8’ beam and a 26’ with a 10’ beam.  The boat is extremely soft riding and stable, capable of running on plane at speeds
in the high thirties in 3 to 4 foot seas.  It can be rigged with a wide range of motors providing the type of performance the
rental company wants to offer its customers:
·        “Pontoon boat like performance” with a 10 to 20 HP motor
·        Family “multi-purpose” performance with a 50-70 HP motor on the 20’, to a 90-120 HP motor on the larger
boats for speeds in the low to mid 20’s.

FURNITURE

The furniture and fences are molded fiberglass; strong, durable, easy to keep clean.  Our rental customers call them
“bullet proof”.  Cushions, if you choose to use them, are removable Sunbrella or vinyl.  They have zip out foam and are
washable.  Since the furniture is made as individually molded modules, the deck can be laid out to suit your uses.  The
boat can have as little or as much furniture as you desire of whatever type you need.  No seats, fishing seats, standard
seats, wrap around lounges and flip back seats are all available.  Consoles with or without bait-wells and a console with
an enclosed head underneath are also available.  The “head console” is unique in the field, providing a 5’ 2” high area
down in the hull under the head, it has room for a porta-potti or MSD and has a molded-in sink area with pressure water
available.  A rental company may want to have boats with the head console for several reasons:
·        Distinguish yourself from competing companies in the area.
·        Make additional profit by charging extra for the use of the head.
·        A large lockable storage area on the boat.  Even without a toilet, the head console is a “utility shed” on the boat to
store safety equipment etc.
·        Resale value.  Since the Beachcat is a popular boat on its own, if you “turn the fleet” before they are worn out, you
can more easily sell the boat, since almost all Beachcats sold to families have the enclosed head option.

COST

Despite being a well built, all fiberglass boat, capable of running on plane in rough water, a Beachcat cost no more than a
comparably equipped aluminum pontoon boat!  That’s right, more than the cheapest, less than the more expensive, and
so much better.

20’ Beachcat

This model is designed to minimize cost at every turn.  The hull is 4” lower to allow the use of 20” shaft motors of lower
power.  The hull is often used to make up a “one family” package.  Capacity is 7 people or 1200 lbs., so that four adults
and some children gets close to the maximum, although this capacity is based on the Coast Guard capacity formula
which takes rough water and high speed turns into consideration.  With a 50 HP motor the boat will run in the low 20’s.
It also makes a good choice for a fishing boat because of the open deck and stability.

23’ Beachcat

This model is the most popular choice for the bulk of most fleets.  It carries two families easily and has more freeboard.
Although this size has been rented successfully with as little as a 70 HP 4 stroke Nisson, a little more power would
assure that it planes with a full load.

26’ X 8’ and 10’ beams

This model would provide a deluxe 2 family or group boat with a capacity of 12 or more.  It requires no more power
than the 23’ for the same load and speed, but it should have a minimum of 120 HP to handle the expected larger loads.
Probably not right for the entire fleet, but the 26 X 10 would make a striking centerpiece to a multi-boat fleet.

Models and prices

Any boat can have any layout you choose, but to give you an idea of typical prices, we have pre-priced a simple layout
and deluxe layout for you.  The simple layout is called the Family Cat and the deluxe version is called the Show Cat (see
the pages for the various sizes).  We can obtain most brands of motors from our dealers who sell that brand (usually at
cost) and will rig the boat at a modest cost.  Rigging the boat locally is another good choice, since buying the motor from
a local dealer makes you popular when you need service.  Fuel is typically carried in one or two plastic 12 or 19 gallon
tanks, stored in spaces provided in the splash well, under covers.  The battery can be stored next to a 12 gallon tank
under the cover, or under the center 18” seat at the rear (which folds forward).  Every seat has open or (optional) closed
storage underneath.

Design your own boat

You can link to something I call a
“Paper Doll”.  It has the deck outline of the various size hulls as well as the top view of
many of the available pieces of furniture.  With this tool you can “cut and paste” any deck layout you like.  Feel free to
sketch in other components.  When complete, you can copy the sheet and fax it to Beachcat for pricing.
