Beachcat
Commercial Hulls
Beachcat commercial hulls are available in three sizes.   The 26' X 10', which is C G certified to carry 20 passengers and 2
crew, is designed to use one outboard motor between 90 and 250 horsepower mounted between the hulls.  This results in
the powerhead (and propeller) being about 8" higher than they would be if the motor was behind the hull. This allows the
boat to run in shallower water, and the prop can even be trimmed up, slightly, and be completely above the bottom of the
hull.  The hulls are designed to use either 25" or 30" shaft length motors.  The 32' X 12' hull is certified to carry 40
passengers and 2 crew and used two motors between 50 and 250 horsepower mounted between the hulls.  The 38' X 12'
hull is certified for 49 passengers and 2 crew.  All the hulls are certified for use in "partially protected waters" (20 miles from
a safe harbor.  If you plan to use the hull as a certified passenger vessel, you should discuss the planned route with the local
Marine Safety Office to assure that it is considered to be in "partially protected waters."  The maximum speed is 26 knots
and the hulls run comfortably in 5 foot seas.

The hulls are built using “aircraft style” construction techniques such as variable thickness fiberglass and an egg crated
fiberglass bulkhead configuration.  The deck is non-skid gel coated fiberglass with a core of chemically treated marine
plywood.  If the "certified" option is choosen, the hull will be built with fire retardant resin and will recieve all the required
testing and drawing and design approval required as well as stability approval.  The final COI inspection (safety equipment,
signage, man overboard and fire drills etc. must always be done in the district where the boat will operate.  If you do not
plan to use the boat as a C G certified passenger vessel, but as a work boat, houseboat, in a non-US location etc., it not
necessary to pay for certification.
